Week beginning 12.10.26
In English this week, we started our hot writes. We are writing our own sensory story adventure in a new setting. We will be using Clicker to support us with our writing.
In maths, we are continuing our work on addition and subtraction. We use base ten and tens frames to help us with this. Some of us are moving onto using more formal, written methods of addition and subtraction too.
Week beginning 5.10.26
We have been working hard on our innovation in English. We have changed the story setting to the Arctic and have been using our senses. We enjoyed watching a David Attenborough clip to inspire us.
In maths we have been adding and subtracting; using tens frames and base ten to support our understanding.
We have been continuing with our work on behaviour, focusing on active listening. We have also been practising this in assemblies.
Forest school was lots of fun - please ask us what we got up to!
In art, we finished off our autumn leaves using the pointillism technique. We will be putting these up on a display very soon!
Week beginning 28.9.26
We have been continuing with our sensory story in English, working on nouns and adjectives to make expanded noun phrases. We have also been using our senses to write descriptive sentences.
In maths, we have been enjoying using the counting stick to help us recall our times tables. We have also been working on number bonds to 10 and 100, as well as related facts. We have also been looking at adding numbers, using a range of manipulatives, including: base ten, tens frames and number lines.
We have been working hard to ensure we are following our behaviour curriculum. Please ask us about this at home! We have also been focusing on the emotion sadness. We explored how we feel, what makes us feel this way and what we can do to return to being calm. We made special envelopes to use a support strategy - click here!
Today, we made pitta pizzas. First, we chopped up the vegetables that we wanted on our pizza: tomatoes and peppers. Next, we toasted out pitta and added tomato puree. After that, we added our vegetables and some mozzarella. Finally, we put the pitta pizzas in the mircowave to melt the cheese. They were yummy!

Week beginning 21.9.26
This week, we have started looking at a sensory story in English. Auntie Anne goes on a trip to visit an adventure island. We put on her hat, we listened to the sounds of the various modes of transport she used to get to the island, we felt the sand and even ate some of her biscuits! We will be using these experiences to help us create descriptive sentences using adjectives.
In maths, we have been comparing and ordering numbers. We have also been counting in 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s.
We had a lovely time in Forest School on Tuesday. Mrs Tanner brought along some clay for us to use in there too. See pictures in our class gallery.
On Wednesday, we went to the pond area to do some Art. We had a lovely, calm time sketching different parts of the pond.
We LOVED Languages day on Friday! The highlight was definitely the French breakfast! We enjoyed learning about different languages, including: Spanish, Punjabi and sign language to name few!

Week beginning 14.9.26
Another exciting week in the nest!
In maths we have been continuing with our work on place value. We have been writing numbers in words, partitioning and counting in 10s and 1s on a number line.
In English we have been continuing with our work on If I were Prime Minister. We have been using Clicker to plan and write our ideas. We have been focusing on ensuring our sentences have capital letters, full stops, finger spaces and high frequency words are spelt correctly.
We have been working hard on our routine for lining up. We know that we have to remember the order, face the direction we are travelling, ensure we leave appropriate spaces and stand quietly.
We enjoyed cooking and tasting pea-camole. See the recipe here if you wanted to make it again at home!
A highlight was definitely forest school!

In English, we have been exploring the book 'If I were Prime Minister'.
We have also been learning about the emotion happy. What this looks like, how it feels and the things that make us happy. We reflected on our week in school with questions such as something I have enjoyed, something that made me laugh, something I'm looking forward to.
We also loved making cloud dough on Friday afternoon!
Our highlight of the week has been sensory circuits.
